Why Acupuncture?
Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago and is presently used as a part of primary health care worldwide. Acupuncturists consider disease as the result of poor function in the body's natural physiological processes. We carefully place small, sterile, solid needles at specific points in the body to restore function and allow for healing to occur. For a stronger treatment, gentle electrical stimulation is sometimes added to the needles similar to what people experience with a TENS Unit. Acupuncture is a highly effective approach to resolving trigger points associated with myofascial pain.
You may have myofascial pain if you experience any of the following:
Persisting pain that worsens over time
Aching muscle pain
Tight, tender knots in your muscles
Difficulty sleeping due to the pain
Why Herbal Medicine?
Herbalists create specially constructed formulas which are tailored to you. They take into account what you are experiencing, right now, and what your health goals are. Relying on traditional Chinese Medicine approaches, these formulas are customized and then continue to be adapted to support you as your symptoms change during your recovery to offer you the best remedies available. While anyone can go into a health store and buy ginseng for themselves, a licensed herbalist knows whether ginseng is appropriate for you, what type of ginseng is best suited to you and what other herbs need to be combined with it, the appropriate dosage, and when to stop taking it. Herbal medicine is powerfully effective when utilized by a trained professional.

the process
initial consultation
During this telehealth appointment, the acupuncturist and patient will discuss the reason for their visit, obtain pertinent details necessary to begin care, and establish whether the services offered at GPA will be a good fit for the patient’s needs. No Charge.
The initial consultation is done via telehealth. A link will be emailed to the patient on the day of their appointment. During this time, the acupuncturist will go over information provided in the intake forms, set expectations for the patient, and answer any questions the patient may have about treatment.
treatment plan
Treatments include local and distal acupuncture strategies. They may also include manual and movement therapy, topical and/or internal herbal medicine, and electroacupuncture. $120 per treatment. The number of treatments required for lasting relief varies according to the severity of the complaint and general health of the patient. Most people find significant relief in 3-6 treatments and some may need occasional maintenance treatments to make a lasting change.
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. Late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the practitioner's day that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours’ notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee. Read informed consent for assessment of pelvic floor and lower abdominal dysfunction & all office policies prior to your appointment.
